Pioneer Antiques Structure
Fire Station 72,
Station 78, & Medic 107 were dispatched to a structure
fire at the Pioneer Antiques store on Market St., Bridgeville,
Delaware. Dispatched at 2152 hrs. engine 72-1 was the first to
repsonded and arrive on scene w/ flames showing on the B &
C sides. Smoke showing throughout. Firefighters Chris Millman
& Lt. Steve McCarron were the first to make the initial
attack on the rear of the structure. Station 78 came on scene
to assist 72 on the attack. Station 72 & 78 made and
interior attack on the first and second floors. 5 to 10
minutes into the interior attack crew were ordered to evacuate
structure when flames where scene coming through the roof.
With the assisance of Federalsburg Tower truck the roof was
placed under control. Crew continued to work and the scene was
placed under control at 2259. Other fire departments assisting
were; station 78, station 87, station 100, FM 10, station 77,
and station 47. Fire Marshals have not released any possible
casues.

Structure Fire @ Morning Side
Village
Sunday
morning Station 72, 78, and Medic 102 were dispatched to a
structure fire at Morning Side Village. Jack Cannon, 72-15,
went on scene and advised that the structure was fully
involved. 72-1 went on scene and started initial attack with
John Tomeski Sr., Chris Millman, and Evan Lloyd on an 1 3/4"
line. Station 78 came on scene soon after the initial attack
and assisted 72 with the structure fire. All occupants were
out of the structure prior to 72's arrival. Those responding
72-1, 72-9, 72-4, 72-5 (Tanker), Rescue 72, B-72, Tanker
78, 78-2, and Medic 102.

Asst. Station 87 on Woods
Fire
Station 72 was
dispatched to assist Station 87 was dispatched to assist
Station87 with a woods fire on
Sanfilippo Rd on April 15, 2008. Those responding were 72-0,
72-00, Tanker 72, & Ambulance A-72. Scene was under
control @ 165A hrs.

Basement Fire at Feed
Mill
At this point I do not
have a lot of information about this incident. I don't wish to
put false information about this until I have read the
incident report. So you will have to wait for the story. All I
can tell you at this point is: That it was a
basement fire at an abandoned Perdue Feed Mill that was being
demolished. Those responding were Station 72 with Engine 72-1,
Engine 72-9, and Ambulance A-72. Greenwood VFC. Station 78
responded as well with Engine 78-2, Tanker 78-5, Ambulance
A78. Initial attack was done by Chris Millman, Steve McCarron,
Ronnie Reed, and Dave Knight. Jack Cannon 72-15 had
command.

Field Fire caused by Farm
Equipment
The Bridgeville
Volunteer Fire Company Inc., was dispatched on Sept. 29,
2007 at 1337 to a field/brush fire just North of Rifle
range Rd. Firefighters on scene fought the fire for a
total of 16 min. and put 800 gallons of water on the fire.
Initial response was made by 72-0, 72-00, 72-4, and 72-5 with
Mahlon Baker (72-16) taking command.
While back at the
station, Bridgeville were dispatched to the same location a
few minutes later. Brush units 72-0, 72-00, and 72-4 with
72-16 having command responded to the location and used 1000
gal. of water to douse the flames and were on scene a total of
23 min.
Station 72 was not dispatched a 3rd
time!!!

Woods Fire on Sandhill & Trinity Church
Rd
On Sept. 24, 2007 at
1721 hours responded to a wood fire on Sandhill Rd and Trinity
Church Rd. Responding were 72-00, 72-0, and 72-4 with Jack
Cannon (72-15) with command. On scene firefighters placed 1250
gallons of water on the fire and contained the wood fire
before it had a chance to more than what it could have been.
Station 72 was on scene a total of 69 min.

New Engine 72-1
Training
The members of Station
72 took the new Engine 72-1 out for training on Aug. 27.
Drivers were given training on the new CAF System, while the
remaining firefighter members took turn learning the hose
handling methods using smooth-bore noozles. At the end of the
training flares were ignited and a mock small fire alarm was
simulated to get practice with initial knock down with the
new engine.

Seashore Hwy Structure
Fire
On Aug. 13, 2007
Station 72 was dispatched to a structure fire on Seashore
Hwy at 1752hrs along with Station 78 to assist. Upon arrival
to scene smoke was showing. It was believe to be started under
the rear porch on the "C" side of the building,
possibly due to electrical wires. Minor damaged was done
to the home. Units responding Engine 72-9, Tanker 72-5, Rescue
72-6, and Ambulance A-72. Total time on scene 59
min.

Assist 77 with Structure
Fire
On July 28, 2007 BVFC
was dispatched to assist Station 77 with a structure fire on
Wilson Rd. Units Responding Engine 72-9, Rescue 72-6, Tanker
72-5, and Ambulance B-72. Units remained on scene for a total

Woods Fire Cause by
Lighting
On Thursday July 19th,
Station 72 was dispatched to a 10' x 10' woods fire on Rabbit
Run Rd. Responding units were 72-0, 72-00, and Command 72 with
72-16. 72-24 had command. The fire was quickly contained by
way of booster line and some rakes. The cause of the fire was
due to lighting strike during a short but severe storm passing
through Sussex County. Total scene time was 33 minutes.
